Tides Announce Opening Day Roster

Norfolk, VA -- The Tides have announced their initial roster for the 2008 season. The club will be led by manager Gary Allenson, who is in his second season with the Tides. Dallas Williams will once again serve as hitting coach, with Larry McCall again coaching the pitching staff.
The Tides initial roster includes catchers Chris Heintz and Omir Santos, infielders Travis Brown, Mike Costanzo, Mike McCoy, Oscar Salazar and Eider Torres, outfielders Sebastien Boucher, Tike Redman, Chris Roberson, Adam Stern and Luis Terrero, and pitchers Craig Anderson, Alberto Castillo, Lance Cormier, Jim Johnson, Jon Leicester, Radhames Liz, Bob McCrory, Andy Mitchell, Roberto Novoa, Garrett Olson, Hayden Penn and Esteban Yan.
Pitchers Fredy Deza, Cory Doyne and Sean Tracey will begin the season on the disabled list.
The Tides begin their 2008 regular season tonight with a home contest against the Buffalo Bisons, with first pitch slated for 7:15 p.m.
