PAPILLION - Werner Park will once again play host to the University of Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks in 2017, featuring marquee matchups against the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (April 5) and Creighton University (May 9). UNO and UNL will face off at Werner Park for the fourth consecutive year on Wednesday, April 5. The Mavericks fell to the Cornhuskers by a score of 11-6 last season after dropping a dramatic ten-inning affair 3-2 in 2015. The two squads first met at Werner Park during the 2014 campaign, resulting in a 4-1 UNL win.
The Mavericks will then return to Werner Park on Tuesday, May 9 as they take on Creighton University. The two teams previously met at Werner Park on March 30, 2013, with the Blue Jays topping UNO 11-4.
Tickets are now on sale for both matchups, and are $12 for adults and $9 for students 18 and under. Tickets for UNO students will be free and available on the day of each contest. Fixed seating will be in effect for both tilts, which are scheduled for 6:35 p.m. start times.
The University of Nebraska-Omaha begins their 2017 campaign Friday under the direction of first-year skipper Evan Porter. The Mavericks finished the 2016 season with a 28-28 overall record, including an 18-12 mark in Summit Conference play, good for second in the conference.
