EVANSVILLE, IN - Evansville hosted Huntsville at the Ford Center and carried the play offensively through the first 20 minutes. Huntsville responded with physical play and game 48 of the season had a very playoff feel to it. For a third straight game, the Thunderbolts scored the first goal of the game. Defenseman Vytal Cote joined a 3-2 rush into the Havoc zone and fired a shot from the right wing. Havoc netminder Adam Courchaine made the save, but John Scorcia put the rebound into the net. For Scorcia, it was his seventh goal in 28 games played this season. Cory Melkert assisted on the goal as well as Cote.
Evansville continued their aggressive offensive play into the second period. They led in shots 20-11 until penalty problems, again, put their opponents on the power play. Evansville killed the first penalty to Stephon Thorne for elbowing before Frank Schumacher would end up in the sin bin just 20 seconds later. To make matters worse, Melkert earned a slashing penalty and Huntsville had a 5-3 opportunity for 53 seconds. They wouldn't need that long. Stuart Stefan would get his 11th goal this year assisted by Sy Nutkevich and Jordan Wood.
Both netminders made circus-style saves through the third period to give their teams an opportunity to win. The tense affair was finally broken when Josh Elmes pinched in from the right point and took a pass from Austin Mckay and scored top shelf,
