Thunder Trades Kyrzakos to Mississippi

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, the proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons, announced center Jeff Kyrzakos (Kerr-ZACK-is) has been traded to the Mississippi Sea Wolves in exchange for future considerations.

Kyrzakos, 23, was originally acquired by the Thunder from the Charlotte Checkers on Oct. 24, 2008 in exchange for future considerations (defenseman Nathan Saunders). In 24 games with the Thunder, Kyrzakos scored nine points (4g-5a) and added 22 penalty minutes.

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound center has skated in 163 career ECHL games over three seasons (2006-09) with Stockton, Charlotte and Phoenix, scoring 83 points (36g-47a) and amassing 120 penalty minutes. Kyrzakos has appeared in five Kelly Cup Playoff games for Charlotte and Phoenix, scoring a goal.

The Thunder's current roster stands at 19 active players (2 goaltenders, 17 skaters) heading into the ECHL All-Star break.

The Thunder returns to play on Friday, Jan. 23 against the Phoenix RoadRunners at 7:30 p.m. from Stockton Arena. The game is available on radio and online (audio is free-of-charge) for viewing for a $7 charge at http://www.stocktonthunder.com/ (courtesy of B2 Networks).
