Thunder Homer Twice in Loss

(Reading, PA)- Home runs by C Dan Conway and RF Bronson Sardinha were not enough as the Thunder lost to Reading, 6-2, Sunday afternoon in Reading. The loss was the sixth in the last seven games for Trenton.
Reading (55-53) jumped on Thunder starter Jason Jones for two runs in both the 2nd and 3rd Innings. RF Matt Padgett hit a two-run homer in the second to give the Phillies the lead. An RBI double from LF Joey Hammond and an RBI single from Padgett made it a 4-0 game in the third. Jones (8-5) allowed four runs (three earned) over five innings for the loss.
Meanwhile, Reading starter Carlos Carrasco worked through six innings with a shutout. Trenton was able to get their leadoff batter on base, but Carrasco prevented them form scoring. Carrasco (4-1) scattered five hits with one walk and three strikeouts for the victory. Trailing 4-0, Trenton (64-42) got solo homers from Conway in the 7th Inning and Sardinha in the 8th Inning. Reading responded with runs in each of those innings for the 6-2 win.
The Thunder enjoy an off-day on Monday before starting a three-game series on tuesday in Binghamton, NY. Alan Horne (9-3, 2.36) will start the series opener for the Thunder against Binghamton's Marcos Carvajal (5-7, 4.09).
