HOUSTON, TEXAS - Vancouver Whitecaps FC embark on the ever-daunting Texas road swing this week, starting with a date with a seemingly impenetrable Houston Dynamo side on Saturday evening at BBVA Compass Stadium.KICKOFF: 6:30 p.m. PT | TV: TSN2 | RADIO: TSN 1040

Here are tonight's storylines:

THAT OLD TEXAS RIDDLE

The 'Caps have visited Texas 10 times in their MLS history, and each time they have left the Lone Star State empty-handed.

To notch their first point in Houston, the 'Caps will have to battle the Texas heat, with the mercury expected to hit north of 33 degrees Celsius at kickoff.

Will Bruin leads the attack for the home side and 2016 MLS All-Star Kendall Waston will man the back for the Vancouver, after the Costa Rican centre back was unavailable for the first two meetings this season.

DR. JEKYL AND MR. HYDE

The question entering Saturday night's matchup is which Dynamo side will show up?

The team that's sunk to the bottom of the Western Conference standings, who have been shut out in their last three outings including last Wednesday's U.S. Open Cup loss?

Or the proud Houston squad that has not conceded a home goal in 99 days, collecting four straight clean sheets at BBVA Compass Stadium?

KUDO AND TECHERA ON A ROLL

The 'Caps recent scoring surge is partly due to the strong play of Uruguayan winger Cristian Techera and Japanese striker Masato Kudo.

Techera has scored or assisted in three of their last four matches, including last Tuesday's friendly versus Crystal Palace FC.

Kudo has picked up where he left off before his fractured jaw injury that sidelined him for two months. Since his return, he has had an effect on the scoresheet in each of his two MLS starts, influencing an own goal versus Real Salt Lake on July 13, then scoring a goal versus Orlando City SC three days later. He also scored a goal in the match prior to the Chicago game where he suffered the injury.
