Steeves, Semik, Fulp all set to compete in top USHL showcase
CHICAGO - The United States Hockey League, in conjunction with NHL Central Scouting, has released the full roster for the upcoming USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Kearney, Nebraska on January 9, 2018. Fighting Saints forward Alex Steeves (Bedford, N.H./Notre Dame), as well as defensemen Jacob Semik (Canton, Mich./Michigan) and Aidan Fulp (Indianapolis, Ind./Western Michigan) were named to take part in the USHL's top showcase of NHL Draft-eligible talent.
Steeves has burst onto the scene as one of the premier talents in the USHL this season as the Saints' leading scorer. He ranks seventh in the league with 17 points (8 goals, 9 assists). Once the youngest player in the league, Steeves has played in 108 USHL games and has scored 46 points. He is set to represent the United States in the World Junior A Challenge.
Semik, a regular representative in international tournaments for USA Hockey, gets the call to the USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game. Semik has played in the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament, the Five Nations Tournament, where he won the gold medal, and played in the 2017 CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game in Buffalo.
Fulp, the lone Fighting Saints ranked skater on the latest NHL Central Scouting Players to Watch List, will also represent the Fighting Saints for Team East. He has remained a C-ranked skater on both lists that Central Scouting has released to this point. Fulp started his USHL career by spending time with the USA Hockey National Team Development Program.
Former Fighting Saints Willie Knierim, Zach Solow, Dylan Gambrell, Seamus Malone and Blake Hillman were all named to more recent iterations of the Top Prospects Game, among the elite prospects in the USHL in their respective draft years.
