Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
DAVENPORT, Iowa - The River Bandits beat the Burlington Bees 5-3 on Wednesday night at Modern Woodmen Park in front of 5,318 fans. Jesus Balaguer earned his first win as a Bandit. Ronnie Dawson tied a personal season-high with a hit in eleven consecutive games.
The Bees (15-24, 46-62) took a first inning lead on a solo home run by Richie Fecteau. The Bandits (24-15, 61-46) tied the score in the bottom of the third. Osvaldo Duarte doubled, advanced to third on a wild pitch then scored on a ground out by Dawson. Burlington regained the lead in the top of the fourth on a delayed steal of home by Artemis Kadkhodaian. The Bees made it 3-1 on Jonah Todd's RBI single. Quad Cities trimmed the lead to one in the bottom of the inning when Kristian Trompiz drove in a run with a single. In the bottom of the seventh, Ray Henderson tied the game with a single. The Bandits took the lead when Bees' third baseman Juan Moreno made a throwing error, scoring Trompiz from third. Quad Cities added another in the inning on an RBI single from Dawson.
Dustin Hunt lasted 3.2 innings in his spot start, allowing three runs on three hits, striking out seven and walking four in a no-decision. Lucas Williams tossed 2.2 innings of scoreless relief. Balaguer (1-0) hurled the final 2.2 innings out of the Bandits pen. Balaguer held the Bees scoreless and struck out the first two batters he saw to strand a pair of runners. Erik Manoah tossed five innings and allowed just one run for the Bees, but didn't factor into the decision. Ty Barkell took the loss. Barkell (1-6) allowed all three runs in the decisive seventh.
Game two of the three game set is Thursday night at Modern Woodmen Park with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. RHP Cristian Javier (0-0, 5.14) toes the rubber for the Bandits.
