Three Precious Points in Play Between Montreal Impact and New England Revolution on Saturday Night a

Club de Foot Montreal News Release

MONTREAL - The Montreal Impact will aim to create an eight-point cushion on New England Revolution as Kei Kamara, Lee Nguyen and co. visit Stade Saputo on Saturday, September 17, at 7:30pm (RDS [pregame at 7pm], TSN 2, 98,5sports.ca, TSN 690).

For the tenth time this season, the game at Stade Saputo, presented by Ubisoft, will be played in front of a sold out crowd.

The old "six-point game" cliche applies perfectly for this game. The Bleu-blanc-noir, sitting in fifth place in the East, has a five-point lead over the Revs, who are currently seventh, just below the red line granting access to a playoff berth. A win for the Impact would bring the Montrealers level with Philadelphia Union, who occupy fourth place and currently hold the home field advantage for the knockout round.

"It's a big game on Saturday, we need points to get in the playoffs," said Nacho Piatti. "We will try to win, the whole team is going good. We work well together. Our mentality is in the right place, we want to win this important match."

The Impact advises supporters to get to Stade Saputo early and to use public transit. Pie-IX Blvd. will be partially closed in the northbound direction, from Pierre-de-Coubertin Ave. to Mont-Royal Ave., preventing vehicles from turning right on Sherbrooke East St. Traffic disruptions are also scheduled on Pierre-de-Coubertin Ave., between Viau St. and Pie-IX Blvd., until the end of the season.

Reaching Stade Saputo via Hochelaga St. in the westbound direction may also be complicated due to roadwork. The Impact recommends avoiding this section of Hochelaga St., driving north on L'Assomption Blvd., west on Sherbrooke St. and south on Viau St.

Please also take note of the full implementation of new security measures upon entering the stadium. All bags larger than 35 cm x 35 cm x 15 cm are prohibited. The full rules and regulations can be viewed on 1e628e7c41f3ffd0392a77f79 impactmontreal.com.

A double opportunity with six games to play After having played two games in four days last week, the Impact took advantage of a full week of preparation for this 29th game of the season, while New England were in contention for silverware on Tuesday night, in Frisco, Texas. A Montreal win would not only put some distance between them and the Revs, but would also close the gap on the top four and put some pressure on the New York teams, currently second and third with a six-point advantage.

Revs do not have time to feel sorry for themselves The Boston representatives had a rare opportunity to add a new piece to their trophy case on Tuesday, playing the US Open Cup final against FC Dallas. Despite opening the scoring early through Juan Agudelo, the Revs were beaten 4-2 by a rampant offensive display from the Toros.

"Confidence, urgency. That is the mentality we got to have," insisted head coach Mauro Biello. "We have to be ready for everything, as much at home as away. This is what we will focus on: what awaits us and to keep this approach. Each game against a team in the East is important. It is also important to us to get points in order to move forward in the standings and to eliminate teams. Saturday's game, for us, is very important. We want to take this opportunity to grow and to stay on the right path against a team coming here with something to prove."

Next games The Impact's next game at Stade Saputo will take place on Wednesday, September 28, at 7:30pm with Chris Wondolowski and the San Jose Earthquake visiting (TVA Sports, TSN 690, 985sports.ca). Excellent individual tickets are still available for this game on impactmontreal.com.

Prior to this penultimate home game, the Impact will travel to New York to face the Red Bulls on Saturday, September 24 at 7pm (TVA Sports, TSN 690).
