Three Players Recalled, Hogs Face Heat Tonight

Rockford, Ill.- Chicago Blackhawks General Manager of Minor League Affiliations Mark Bernard announced on Saturday that the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League have recalled goalie Alec Richards, defenseman J.C. Sawyer and forward Maxime Tanguay from the team's ECHL affiliate Toledo Walleye.

Richards and Tanguay were both on Rockford's opening day roster. Tanguay made his professional and AHL debut with the IceHogs on Oct. 4 at Peoria, registering four shots on goal with a -1 plus/minus rating. Richards backed up Joe Fallon on Oct.4 and both were reassigned to Toledo later that week.

Tanguay is tied for second on the Walleye with nine assists and 14 points with 12 games played. The center chipped in two assists in Toledo's 4-3 shootout loss in Florida on Friday night.

Richards was docked with the shootout loss against the Everblades on Friday night and has played in seven games with Toledo during his first professional season. Richards carries a 4-1-0-2 record in 2009-10 with a.903 save percentage and a 2.75 goals against average.

Sawyer has played 19 games with the IceHogs over the past two seasons racking up three goals and an assist. The blue-liner currently leads all Walleye skaters with 11 assists and 16 points in 12 contests. His five goals are tied for third most on the club. Sawyer's point total is also tops among all ECHL defenseman.

All three skaters are expected to be in Rockford in time for tonight's game against the Abbotsford Heat at 7:05 p.m.

Hogs are playing in second contest of a five-game home stand

Rockford, Ill.- The Rockford IceHogs are looking for offense and they hope to find it against the Abbotsford Heat tonight at the Rockford MetroCentre at 7:05 p.m.

The Hogs have scored two or fewer goals in eight of their last nine games including a 4-0 loss at the hands of the Texas Stars at home on Friday.

It's Mike Peck Bobblehead Night, presented by Dental Dimensions, 23 WIFR and WNTA, as the team recognizes their Voice of the IceHogs for the last eight years. The first 2,500 fans into the building will pick up a bobblehead.

Rockford will be getting some help tonight from call-ups Maxime Tanguay, J.C. Sawyer and Alec Richards, who made the trip over from Toledo (ECHL) earlier today. Richards will be sitting in for Corey Crawford who is battling a lower body injury.

Abbotsford is coming into the game after giving Peoria a 6-0 pounding at Carver Arena on Friday. The Heat are in their final tilt of a three-game road swing through the West Division. It is the first of 13 times this season that the Hogs will face a North Division foe at the Big Orange Box.

Next Home Game: Wednesday, Nov. 18 vs. Texas Stars: The puck drops at 7 p.m. The Rockford IceHogs continue a six-game homestand. The two teams play a total of eight times in 2009-10, three of the meetings happen in November. It's a Golden Goal Wednesday, meaning if the IceHogs score with 9:10 left on the clock in the third period, one lucky fan will win $10,000.
