Three Oaks make 2006 California League all-star team

VISALIA, CA - The Visalia Oaks are pleased to announce the selection of three Oaks to the California League's All-Star Team. Visalia will send three left-handed hitters, shortstop Reid Brignac, outfielder Patrick Breen, and DH/catcher John Jaso to the California/Carolina League All-Star game held on Tuesday, June 27th at Lewis-Gale Medical Center Field, home of the Carolina League's Salem Avalanche.

As of June 12th, Reid Brignac, who was hitting .322/.371/.545 (AVG/OBP/SLG) was fifth in the California League in batting average, seventh in HR (11) and sixth in RBI (44). His 78 hits are second in the League, his .545 SLG was tied with teammate Patrick Breen for second and his 30 extra base hits were third in the League. Patrick Breen (.300/.395/.545) has been one of the leading power hitters in the League. His 12 HR are fourth and his 42 RBI are seventh in the California League. John Jaso (.327/.381/.475) is third in the League in Batting Average.

The San Jose Giants, holders of the League's best record sent a League-high four players. The Oaks are one of three teams, alongside the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes and the Lake Elsinore Storm, sending three players.

The 2006 HCA Virginia Carolina League vs. California League All-Star Game is being played for the 10th time in the past 11 seasons. The first match-up ended in a 2-2 tie after 11 innings in a game hosted by the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes in June of 1996. The Carolina League leads the all-time series 4-3, with two ties (1996, 2002). The 2006 edition of the game will mark the first time that the State of Virginia has hosted this ballgame.
