Billings Mustangs News Release

SPOKANE, WASH. - Jim McCurdy, President of the Pioneer Baseball League, has released the Pioneer League's roster for the inaugural Pioneer Baseball League vs. Northwest League All-Star Game sponsored by Cenex Zip Trip® stores. The event, which will be held on August 4, 2015, will be played at Avista Stadium in Spokane, Wash. - the home of the Spokane Indians of the Northwest League.

Each of the eight PBL teams is represented on the 25-man roster, which features nine players formally drafted in the top 10 rounds of the MLB Amateur Draft. In addition to the roster announcement, the Pioneer Baseball League also announced the starters for the game.

The PBL Starting Lineup will be:

OF - Nick Sell, Ogden

OF - Daniel Suero, Grand Junction

OF - Kyle Survance, Orem

1B - Austin Byler, Missoula

2B - Willie Calhoun, Ogden

SS - Isan Diaz, Missoula

3B - Michael Pierson, Orem

C - Taylor Ward, Orem

DH - Zach Fish, Great Falls

P - Tanner Banks, Great Falls

Pioneer Baseball League All-Star Manager Dick Schofield (Billings), and Northwest League All-Star skipper Tim Hulett (Spokane), will determine the batting order for the respective teams.

Separate from the 25 who will suit up and can play in the game, three other players have been selected but will not appear. Nick Dean (Ogden) along with Alexis Rivera (Idaho Falls), have been promoted to other levels within their organizations and thus will not appear in the game. Monte Harrison (Helena) was also selected, but an injury will keep the outfielder out of the contest.

Three other players, Jensen Park (Grand Junction), Parker French (Grand Junction) and David Denson (Helena) were named All-Star alternates and will play in the game if any of the current All-Stars are no longer able to appear.

"We are excited to announce this quality PBL All-Star roster of players to compete in the first inaugural All-Star Game against the Northwest League," said Jim McCurdy, Pioneer Baseball League President. "I congratulate all of our players for their selection. We had a great pool of players from which to choose our roster and these have been the best of the best this season. I am sure they will represent the Pioneer Baseball League well and provide an entertaining product for the fans next week."

After claiming the 2014 Pioneer League Championship, the Billings Mustang coaching staff, led by manager Dick Schofield, will guide the PBL All-Stars. Schofield is in his second season in the league, and his third year as a coach in the Reds organization.
