Memphis Xplorers News Release

SOUTHAVEN, MS --- The reigning ArenaCup champion Memphis Xplorers of af2 announced today that the league has assigned the team QB Stan Hill of Marshall University, WR/DB Remuise Johnson of the University of Kansas and OL/DL Nicholas "Trip" Delcampo of the University of Delaware. This recent round of assignments brings the current total of assigned players for the 2006 season to 25.

Hill is a native of Oxford, MS and makes his return to the Mid-South after a successful career at Marshall in Huntington, West Virginia. Hill, 6-foot-3, 215 pounds, played in 41 games for the Thundering Herd and finished his career with 38 touchdown passes and 6 rushing touchdowns. He also completed 62.1 percent of his passes (420 for 676). Entering his senior season, Hill was one of 22 finalists for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award that is presented annually to the nation's top senior collegiate quarterback. He helped lead Marshall to a 6-2 record in the MAC in 2004 and an appearance in the Fort Worth Bowl. He comes from a school that has produced such recent NFL quarterbacks as the Jacksonville Jaguars' Byron Leftwich and the New York Jets' Chad Pennington.

"We are excited to get Stan Hill for the 2006 season," Xplorers Head Coach Danton Barto said. "Stan comes from a great school that is known for producing great quarterbacks. I believe that he has the opportunity to be a great arena quarterback."

Johnson, 5-foot-9, 176 pounds, capped off his college career with two seasons at the University of Kansas after playing two seasons at Garden City Community College in Kansas. The Boynton Beach, Florida native finished his KU career with 7 interceptions and 60 solo tackles. His 6 picks his junior season marked the first time since 1983 that a Jayhawk player had six or more interceptions in a season. Johnson was also the team's primary punt returner both seasons.

"Remuise is a player that, if you look at his career, one thing jumps out of you and that is everywhere he has played he makes plays," Barto said. "I expect him to come in and make an immediate impact for us this season."

The 6-5, 305 pound Delcampo was a walk-on that became a four-year letterwinner at offensive tackle at Division I-AA Delaware. The Blue Hens went 34-17 in his four seasons including 15-1 in his junior season when the team captured the I-AA national championship. He anchored an offensive line that consistently ranked among the conference leaders in rushing offense and scoring offense. Delcampo was also a first-team All-Atlantic 10 selection as a senior in 2004. He played in a total of 44 games, starting the final 29.

"Trip comes to us highly recommended as a player," Barto said. "We look for him to come in and be a very good pass blocking lineman in af2."
