Daytona Tortugas News Release

Port Charlotte, FL - The Daytona Tortugas rode a three-run seventh inning to a 4-3 victory over the Charlotte Stone Crabs Wednesday night at Charlotte Sports Park. Daytona has now won six straight road games and three games in a row overall, for the first time this season.

For the second game in a row, Charlotte scored first with a pair of runs in the fifth inning. Alec Sole swatted his third homer of the season to right field with one out in the inning. Two straight singles followed before Riley Unroe dropped a safety squeeze down the first base line to score Grant Kay for the 2-0 advantage.

After being held to one hit over their first four innings, the Tortugas offense came to life in the seventh. The Tortugas opened the frame with three consecutive singles by Ty Washington, Avain Rachal, and Chadwick Tromp, to load the bases. Jonathan Reynoso then doubled home Washington and Rachal on a line drive into the left field corner. Tromp was thrown out on the play trying to score from first, after stumbling half way down the third base line. It was the 15th and 16th RBIs on the season for Reynoso.

The very next batter, Ronald Bueno, delivered his first hit and RBI of the season on a single to center, plating Reynoso for the 3-2 lead.

The Tortugas tacked on another run in the eighth, after Taylor Sparks, the only man not to bat in the seventh, led the inning with a single and advanced to second on a wild pitch. A pair of fly outs followed before Tromp came through with a clutch, two-out single to left field scoring Sparks and padding the lead, 4-2.

Charlotte clawed a little closer in the eighth, when Cade Gotta launched his third home run of the year into the Tortuga bullpen in left field.

RHP Tejay Antone (3-3) tossed eight solid innings of work for the win, allowing three earned runs. RHP Nick Howard notched his first save since June 14th, 2015, working around a single in the ninth and striking out a pair.

The Tortugas will look for their first four-game sweep of the season Thursday night at 6:35 PM. LHP Ismael Guillon (1-2, 3.48) will make the start for the Tortugas against RHP Yonny Chirinos (3-0, 1.46). The Chili's pre-game show will begin at 6:20 PM on AM 1230 and AM 1490 WSBB.

Notes: Coming in to the game, Daytona was 0-5 and outscored 36-13 in their last five attempts of securing a three-game winning streak... Antone becomes the second Tortuga starter to throw eight complete innings. Keury Mella was the first back on May 11th against Brevard County... Blake Trahan now owns the longest on-base streak in the FSL after his single in the sixth inning, extending the streak to 26 games.
