Three Game Week for Attack
October 12, 2016 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Owen Sound Attack News Release
The Owen Sound Attack are set for another weekend of Ontario Hockey League action that will see them play three games in four nights beginning on Thursday, Oct. 13.
Coming off of a Thanksgiving Sunday romp over the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, the Attack will head to the hostile Barrie Molson Centre on Thursday evening for their first of six match ups with the Colts this year.
The Attack (3-4-0, 5th Midwest) will be looking to pull back to .500 on the year when they take the ice in Barrie (3-3-1, 2nd Central) for Thursday's 7:30pm puck drop, while the Colts will be out to bounce back from a 4-2 loss to Oshawa on Sunday afternoon.
Owen Sound's Petrus Palmu, who scored a hat-trick in Sunday's 6-1 defeat of the Greyounds, leads the team into action with an unbelievable six goals and five assists, good for 11 points in the Attack's 1st seven games of the year. Palmu's six twine-ticklers have him ranked 4th overall in the OHL's goal scoring race, just two behind league leaders Ryan Moore (Flint) and Nikita Korostelev (Sarnia).
Also showing off his offensive touch for the Attack early in the year is 4th year forward Ethan Szypula, whose two goals and five assists are good for a point-per-game clip.
Heading into Thursday's tilt, the Colts are led by Anthony Stefano who has two goals and seven assists in seven games of action. Barrie's captain, Cordell James, has also looked sharp in the early going, recording five goals while adding two assists.
Fans can watch Thursday night's game live on Rogers Local 53 while also tuning into the call of Fred Wallace on Kia of Owen Sound/Terry's Trailer Service Bear Radio on 560 CFOS.
Owen Sound will then return home for a pair of weekend games against the Kitchener Rangers on Saturday night before taking on the Peterborough Petes on Sunday, in what is the team's 1st Investment Planning Counsel Sunday game of the season.
Saturday night's game against the Rangers, a 7:30pm start, will see the Attack take on the Midwest Division's 1st place team. Kitchener (4-1-0-1) is powered by Florida Panthers prospect Adam Mascherin, who has two goals and eight assists for 10 points in five games of action for the Rangers in 2016-17.
Also with 10 points for Kitchener thus far is rookie forward Greg Meireles whose stats mirror Mascherin exactly.
The Attack will then wrap up their weekend against the Petes (3-3-0-1, 3rd East) at 2:00pm on Sunday, Oct. 16. Like all Investment Planning Counsel Sunday Games, the first 200 children through the door will receive a free small popcorn courtesy of IPC. Fans will also have the chance to win autographed jerseys, and following the game there will be a Skate with the Team and full team autograph session on the ice, all courtesy of the staff at Investment Planning Counsel Owen Sound.
Tickets for both Saturday and Sunday are available for purchase at the MacVicar & McComb ReMax Box Office, online at www.attackhockey.com, or by calling 519-371-7452.
