Three Fargo Force Draft Picks Named to USA Hockey's U17 Select Team

FARGO, ND - USA Hockey announced yesterday the 20-man roster for the U.S. Under-17 Select Team that will compete at the Under-17 Five Nations Tournament from Aug. 10-16 in Arosa, Switzerland. The United States Hockey League boasts 16 total draft picks from the 2015 USHL Phase One Draft on the final roster, with the Fargo Force having the most with three: Tommy Miller, Clayton Phillips, and Jacob McGrew.

Tommy Miller was the first pick for Fargo, fourth overall, in the 2015 Phase One Draft. The defenseman from West Bloomfield, MI played last season for Victory Honda U18 where he posted eight points with two goals and six assists. He finished with a plus/minus rating of +10. Miller is committed to Michigan State University.

Clayton Phillips, a defenseman out of Edina, MN, was selected ninth overall in the first round. Phillips recorded four points in five games during the U-17 Select Team development camp. He just completed his freshman year at Edina High School where he tallied 12 points in 25 games with four goals and eight assists. He finished the season with a plus/minus rating of 0.

Jacob McGrew was the seventh player selected by Fargo in the seventh round and 100th overall. The forward from Orange, CA played the 2014-15 season with the LA Jr. Kings where he scored six goals and added five assists for 11 points in 24 games.
