Three Eskimos Named CFL All Stars

(Edmonton) - The Edmonton Eskimo Football Club is proud to announce Fred Stamps, JC Sherritt and Joe Burnett have been named to the 2012 CFL All-Star Team. The all-stars were selected by fans, CFL head coaches and members of the Football Reporters of Canada for outstanding performance.

Fred Stamps #2, Slotback In 2012, Stamps had a career-high nine touchdowns and led the team (second in the league) with 70 receptions for 1,310 yards. On August 10, he hit two club milestones: eighth on the all-time receptions list and 10th on the all-time receiving yards list. On October 19, Stamps reached 1,000 yards on the season for the fourth consecutive year. His outstanding performance this season earned him Gibson's Finest CFL Offensive Player of the Month honours for October and a fourth consecutive spot on the Western Division All-Star Team.

JC Sherritt #47, Linebacker Sherritt set a team and league record for defensive tackles in a season with 130 (eight for a loss). He also had three sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, two knockdowns, five interceptions for 56 yards and three special teams tackles. Sherritt was named the CFL's Most Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year following a season of accolades that includes Defensive Player of the Week four times, Defensive Player of the Month three times and placement on the Western Division All-Star Team.

Joe Burnett #22, Cornerback and Kicker Returner Burnett had a team leading seven knockdowns and a league-leading six interceptions for 167 yards. He also recorded 47 defensive tackles (two for a loss), and a fumble recovery returned 44 yards for a touchdown. In 2012, he earned Defensive Player of the Week honours and placement on the Western Division All-Star Team.
