Three D-Jays Selected to Arizona Fall League

DUNEDIN, FL - The Dunedin Blue Jays are proud to announce, in conjunction with the Arizona Fall League, that Matt Dean, Rowdy Tellez, and Matt Dean have been selected to represent the Toronto Blue Jays on the 2015 Salt River Rafters roster in the Arizona Fall League. The Salt River Rafters will the season against the Scottsdale Scorpions on Tuesday, October 13th.

The Arizona Fall League is regarded throughout professional baseball as the 'finishing school' for top prospects. Steve Cobb, league director, announced that John Tamargo Jr., 2015 Dunedin Blue Jays hitting coach, will take on the role of hitting instructor for the Salt River Rafters, joining the trio of D-Jays selected to play in the league.

Dean had an exceptional season with Dunedin in 2015. The Highland Village, Texas native played in a team-high 123 games and smacked the club-best 14 home runs. The 22-year-old also drove in 63 runs, 18 more RBI than L.B. Dantzler who ranked second on the D-Jays. Dean was selected out of The Colony High School in Texas in the 13th round of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays. The infielder completed his fourth season of professional baseball in 2015 and made his Advanced-A debut with the Dunedin Blue Jays on April 9th.

Tellez began the 2015 season with the Class-A Lansing Lugnuts and made his much anticipated debut the Dunedin Blue Jays on June 26th. The former 30th round draft selection of the Toronto Blue Jays in 2013 out of Elk Grove High School in California exploded offensively during his first week in the Florida State League. The 20-year-old infielder tallied nine hits in his first 18 at-bats (.500) over his first four contests and hit a home run in three-consecutive games during that stretch, earning Florida State League Player of the Week.

Dragmire found his form out of the bullpen with Dunedin during the dog days of summer. The 22-year-old righty was sensational during July, posting a 0.53 ERA while allowing just one earned run over 17 innings of work, his heaviest workload of any month. The California native issued just four walks, struck out 22 hitters, more punch outs than any other month, and surrendered just 11 hits. The Toronto Blue Jays selected Dragmire out of Bradshaw Christian High School in the 17th round of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft.

Chad Girodo, 2015 Florida State League All-Star selection, was also selected to the Salt River Rafters, he finished the season the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons. Justin Shafer and Roemon Fields round out the Salt River Rafters roster for the Toronto Blue Jays, both players had service time with the Dunedin Blue Jays during the 2015 season.
