Idaho Steelheads News Release

West Valley City, UT - Three goals in a five-minute span to start the third period gave the Utah Grizzlies a 5-2 lead and they held on down the stretch for a one-goal win, 5-4, over the Idaho Steelheads Saturday night.

Idaho (30-13-5) and Utah will conclude their four-game, five-night series in Utah on Sunday afternoon at 4:05 PM.

After David Eddy gave Utah a 1-0 lead in the first period, Sam Carrick would tie things up with a power-play wrister from the left-hand circle past Shane Owen for his 14th goal of the season at 15:15 of the first. Idaho took the lead early in the second period on another power-play goal, this time from Jace Coyle as he finished off a nice, three-man rush with David deKastrozza and Brett Robinson with a rocket from the left face-off dot at 6:39 to make it 2-1. Utah would tie things up on a Mitch Wahl goal at 14:16 to send the game to the third, tied at two.

The Steelheads got on their heels early in the third as Bryan Cameron scored on the power play just 44 seconds into the final frame. The Grizzlies added to that lead, taking advantage of a couple of loose pucks with goals at 5:09 and 5:57 to take a 5-2 lead and seemingly leave the visitors from Idaho for dead.

But the Steelheads did not go away. At 7:26, David Toews poked home a loose puck from the top of the crease for his seventh goal of the season, fifth with Idaho since being acquired in January, to make it 5-3. Then, with Evan Stoflet in the penalty box for Utah, Jace Coyle blasted home his second power-play goal of the night from the blue line between the circles at 10:37 of the third to make it 5-4.

Idaho would have numerous chances to draw even over the final nine minutes but could not get the puck across the line as Utah escaped with the one-goal victory.

Brett Robinson turned in his second straight three-assist game in the loss for Idaho. deKastrozza (two assists) also registered a multi-point night for the Steelheads.

Tyler Beskorowany took the loss despite turning aside 34 shots. Shane Owen got the win for Utah. Idaho's power play went 3-7 on the night while Utah's was 1-3.

The Steelheads return home on Tuesday to host the expansion San Francisco Bulls for the first time in Boise. Tickets are available by calling the CenturyLink Arena box office at 208.331.8497 or by going online at www.idahosteelheads.com.
