ICE-CAPSules

Striking Similarities: The last time the IceCaps recorded a shutout at home was on Mar. 14 when the IceCaps blanked the Bulldogs, also by a score of 6-0. Like in Sunday's 6-0 victory over Providence, Eddie Pasquale was the goaltender and F Spencer Machacek had three points. The contest marked the last time the IceCaps scored six goals or more in a game. s well, Sunday's outburst matched the club record for largest margin of victory (six).

Machacek Breaks Out: F Spencer Machacek snapped his 13-game pointless streak in a big way Sunday. The IceCaps' leading scorer last season notched three assists and was on the ice for all six St. John's goals, finishing with a plus-three rating.

A First for Whitmore: F Derek Whitmore came through with his first goal as an IceCap in Sunday's big win.

Whitmore converted a Machacek pass from behind the net, beating Bruins' goaltender Niklas Svedberg high on the glove side. Whitmore also added an assist for his second multi-point game of the season (he had two assists on Oct. 23 vs. Portland) and recorded a team-high six shots on goal, tying him for the most by an IceCap in a single game this season.

Eddie Saves:

G Eddie Pasquale set a club record for most saves in a regular season game when he stopped 45 shots in a 3-1 win over the Hamilton Bulldogs on Tuesday. Pasquale has faced 40 or more shots in three straight starts and has made at least 35 saves in four consecutive outings.

Power Play Showing Life:

After an awful 2-for-56 stretch on the power play from Oct. 24 to Nov. 17, the IceCaps have turned up the electricity in the past four games, going a combined 6-for-22 (27.2%). St. John's scored three power play goals Sunday for the first time this season, a feat they accomplished seven times last season, most recently in a 4-3 win vs. Springfield on Apr. 8.
