Miami FC News Release
MIAMI -Â The NASL released its Spring Week Six Team of the Week, with the Miami FC leading the way with three spots. Reigning Player of the week Kwadwo Poku, Dylan Mares and Mason Trafford all made the cut after the Orange and Blue defeated FC Edmonton 2-0.
Poku continues to be a force to be reckoned with. On Saturday night he created 6 scoring chance, a team high, and scored a goal his only shot of the match. His stellar performance also earned him Player of the Week honors. This is the third time Poku has been named to the Team of the Week.
Mares has been one of the Miami FC's best players this season and last week was no different. The crafty midfielder did it all in the club's 2-0 victory against FC Edmonton. In the attack, Mares completed 65 passes, created four scoring chances and picked up an assist with a perfectly executed give-and-go with forward Stéfano Pinho. He also did well to track back on defense winning five duels and three tackles. This is his second Team of the Week honor.
Trafford was at the center of Miami's second shutout of 2017. He won all three of his duels and picked up six key clearances, keeping shots away from goalkeeper Daniel Vega. He also contributed heavily in the Orange and Blue's attack, completing 76 of his 80 passes. This marks Trafford's first Team of the Week honor.
The Miami FC hits the road this weekend to take on Puerto Rico FC, before returning home to host Indy Eleven on Saturday, May 13 at 7:30 p.m. Get your tickets now at MiamiFC.com/Tickets.
