MILLER: POSTSEASON BERTH 'A FANTASTIC ACHIEVEMENT' FOR FC EDMONTON
The Eddies' 1-0 win over the Tampa Bay Rowdies in less than ideal conditions this past Sunday means the Boys in Blue will make their first foray into the North American Soccer League's (NASL) four-team postseason tournament since the league's inaugural year in 2011.
After taking the reigns at FC Edmonton in November of 2012, head coach Colin Miller had a vision for where he'd take the club. The former Canadian international with 61 caps to his name told owners Tom and Dave Fath he'd have the Eddies back in the postseason and in good standing within five years.
He's now done it in four.
"I'm just so proud," Miller said. "The players, staff and everyone associated with FC Edmonton deserve an enormous amount of credit here. It's a special occasion."
With four matches remaining this regular season, the Eddies sit five points behind the New York Cosmos for first place in the NASL Fall Season standings and the right to hosting a postseason match at Clarke Stadium.
