Texas Sends One To Idaho, Another To Allen

Cedar Park, TX - The Texas Stars announced on Thursday that defenseman Jordie Benn has been assigned to the Allen Americans of the Central Hockey League. Texas also announced that defenseman Guillaume Monast has been reassigned to the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL.

Jordie Benn will begin his second pro season with Allen after playing his rookie year with the Victoria Salmon Kings of the ECHL. Benn is the older brother of Dallas Stars' forward Jamie Benn. The 6-foot, 185-pound defenseman, played in 55 games for Victoria, assisting on 11 goals and totaling 12 points.

Monast attended training camp in Dallas prior to joining Texas. The undrafted defenseman played the last four years in the QMJHL, scoring 18 goals and setting up 82 others for 100 points in 260 games.

The Stars begin their Inaugural season on Friday, October 2nd at the AT&T Center in San Antonio against the Rampage at 7:00 pm. Texas will host its first regular season game in team history in a rematch with San Antonio at 7:00 pm on Saturday, October 3rd at Cedar Park Center.
