April 5, 2010 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the Texas RimRockers have been added to the league and will begin play in December in Denton, Texas. "We are very pleased to add another excellent organization and team to the powerful Southwest Division," stated Joe Newman, ABA CEO. "Jonathan Bentley recently made the announcement at the Denton's Convention and Visitors Bureau office and was very well received. He is a very organized young man and has starting things very quickly. We have no doubt that this will be one of the best organizations in the ABA. We're very excited about this team, one of several new teams we have in the division."
"We're thrilled to be bringing an ABA team to Denton, one of the truly remarkable cities in Texas," said Bentley. "With the increase in population and the diversification of the economy, we believe the market is primed to support high-quality family entertainment at affordable prices. There's no doubt the league is thriving. League attendance is up over 20%, our team sponsorship numbers and team season ticket sales numbers are flourishing, and the ABA continues to provide high-quality players an opportunity to advance their basketball careers."
GM Jonathan Bentley has been operating an organization called RimRockers Play2Win, an exhibition semi-pro basketball team that gives local players an opportunity to develop their skills so that they can move onto professional status. He prides himself on building a competitive and respectable basketball program with a philosophy of discipline, hard work, and team unity and his teams have had a great winning percentage. Bentley, a native of Philadelphia, grew up in Allentown, graduated from Simon Gratz High School in Philiadelphia where he played baseball and track. In 2007, he graduated from New York University with a BA degree in marketing and now serves as CEO of Baseline Sports, LLC, a Los Angeles, CA company that owns the Texas RimRockers.
