Texas League All-Star Rosters Announced

San Antonio - The rosters for the 75th Texas League All-Star game were announced today with eight Missions being named to the South Division All-Star team.
San Antonio pitchers Anthony Bass, Brad Brach, Casey Kelly and Jorge Reyes were selected to the team along with second baseman Vince Belnome, outfielder Sawyer Carroll, third baseman James Darnell and catcher Ali Solis. Belnome, Darnell and Solis were chosen as starters while Carroll was named as a reserve. The starting pitchers will be named at a later date.
Missions Manager Doug Dascenzo will skipper the South Division squad with the rest of the San Antonio field staff (Pitching Coach Jimmy Jones, Hitting Coach Tom Tornicasa and Trainer Nathan Stewart) serving in the same capacity during the game.
The North Division will be managed by Brian Poldberg of the Northwest Arkansas Naturals and
Pitching Coach Larry Carter, Hitting Coach Terry Bradshaw and Trainer Tony Medina of the Naturals will function in the same role for the game.
The game is Wednesday, June 29 with the first pitch scheduled at 7:15 p.m. and gates will open at 4:00 p.m. Tickets are available at the Missions box office, on-line at www.samissions.com or by calling (210) 675-7275.
Bass is 6-3 with a 3.53 ERA in 11 starts. In 63.2 innings pitched he allowed 56 hits, 26 runs (25 earned) with 17 walks and 60 strikeouts. He ranks second in the Texas League in fewest baserunners allowed per nine innings (10.32), tied for second in wins, third in lowest batting average against (.239), fourth in strikeouts per nine innings (8.48), fifth in strikeouts and fewest walks per nine innings (2.40).
Belnome is hitting .308 (64-for-208) with 11 home runs and 45 RBI in 57 games. He is tied for third in the Texas League in walks (38), fourth in doubles (16) and ranks fifth in RBI and on-base percentage (.415). He has six homers and 16 RBI in his last six games and since May 28, he leads all of professional baseball with 24 RBI and is tied with Matt Kemp of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Prince Fielder of the Milwaukee Brewers for the most home runs with eight.
Brach is 2-2 with a 2.65 ERA and a league-high 16 saves. He has surrendered just 24 hits, 10 earned runs in 34.0 innings while walking only five and striking out 53. He leads all Texas League relievers in strikeouts per nine innings (14.03), fewest walks per nine innings (1.06) and fewest baserunners per nine innings (7.94) and is second in lowest batting average against (.194).
Carroll is ninth in the Texas League in hitting at .311 (55-for-177) and has eight home runs, 27 RBI, six stolen bases and 29 runs scored in 52 games.
Darnell is hitting .351 (79-for-225) with a team-high 13 homers and 48 RBI. He leads the Texas League in doubles (22), extra-base hits (36), is second in hits, RBI, on-base percentage (.444), third in average, slugging percentage (.631), runs (50), total bases (142) and fourth in walks (38) and home run per at-bat ratio (1/17.3). He is tied for fourth in all of minor league baseball in extra-base hits and among Double-A he is fourth in average and total bases and tied for fourth in runs and fifth in RBI, on-base percentage, slugging percentage and is tied for sixth in homers and hits.
Kelly has posted a 4-2 record with a 3.98 ERA in 13 starts. He has thrown 72.1 innings and allowed 79 hits, 40 runs (32 earned) with 20 walks and 55 strikeouts. He is tied for the league-lead in starts and second in innings pitched and is second on the staff in strikeouts.
Reyes is 3-1 with a 3.79 ERA in 11 starts. He has yielded 57 hits, 24 runs (23 earned), 16 walks while striking out 51 in 54.2 innings. He ranks 10th in the Texas League in ERA and is third on the staff in strikeouts.
Solis leads all Texas League catchers in hitting at .297 (38-for-128). He also has nine doubles, one triple, three home runs, 17 RBI, a .343 on-base percentage and a .453 slugging percentage in 36 games.
The Arkansas Travelers (L.A. Angels of Anaheim) had the most selections with nine, San Antonio, the Frisco RoughRiders (Texas Rangers) and the Tulsa Drillers (Colorado Rockies) were second with eight followed by the Springfield Cardinals (St. Louis Cardinals) with five, the Midland RockHounds (Oakland A's) and Corpus Christi Hooks (Houston Astros) with four and the Northwest Arkansas Naturals (Kansas City Royals) with two selections.
