Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas - In the first game back from the All-Star break, the Brahmas lost a battle with the Killer Bees 3-2 as Rio Grande Valley's three second-period goals were enough to top Texas.

After a scoreless first period, the Bees got out to a hot start in the middle frame. Aaron Lee and Brandon Campos each found the back of the net in the first minute of the period, and Tomas Klempa added another score at the 19:37 mark, just before the teams headed into the second intermission.

The Brahmas were powered by a second-period goal by Jordan Kary on a penalty shot as the rookie forward beat Bees' netminder Wylie Rogers on a nifty move to the backhand. Chad Woollard added another goal at the 13:03 mark of the third period, but Rogers and the Rio Grande Valley defense were able to hold on for the final seven minutes to seal the victory.

Rogers made 35 saves on 37 Brahmas shots to earn his sixth victory of the season. Texas goaltender Steve Silverthorn stopped 15 of 18 shots he faced.

The Brahmas and Bees will face off again at State Farm Arena in Rio Grande Valley on Saturday at 7:30pm. The two teams will then travel to North Richland Hills to finish a three-game weekend series at the NYTEX Sports Centre on Sunday at 5:00pm.
