Ryan, a native of Janesville, Wisconsin and a 1972 graduate of Parker High School, is the fourth General Manager in team history. Ryan graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in physical education. In 1980 he returned to baseball as the Midwest scouting supervisor for the New York Mets before being named the Twins\' scouting director in January, 1986 and beginning his ascent in the Twins organization.
