Frisco RoughRiders News Release

MIDLAND, TEXAS-Nick Tepesch (3-2) put together his finest outing at the Double-A level, tossing eight shutout innings, as Frisco (14-19, 55-48) took the rubber game against the Midland RockHounds (16-16, 51-51) 6-0 Thursday night at Citibank Ballpark. It was the team's 10th shutout win of the season, and their first series win since taking two of three against Arkansas in early July.

Frisco cracked the scoreboard in the top of the fifth. With one out, and a runner at first Leury Garcia singled to right off Murphy Smith (6-7). Charging in, the ball went under the glove of 'Hounds rightfielder Jeremy Barfield, allowing Jared Hoying to score from first. Garcia reached third on the error, and scored two batters later on a sacrifice fly by Alex Buchholz.

In the sixth, Engel Beltre added one more to the RoughRiders tally. After fouling off Smith's first pitch, Beltre hit a solo home run that just carried over the rightfield wall. It was his fourth home run in the month of July (all have come over the last 10 days).

Beltre went back to work in the top of the eighth, driving the initial offering from Jose Guzman into center. Digging towards third, Beltre reached on a triple, and was awarded home after the throw skipped into the third base dugout.

Ahead 4-0, the 'Riders added two more runs in the ninth, on an RBI fielder's choice by Alex Buchholz (second RBI of the night) and a double by Zach Zaneski. On for the bottom of the ninth, Richard Bleier tossed a scoreless frame to give Frisco the series win.

Nick Tepesch picked up the victory, tossing eight shutout innings while scattering five hits. He walked one and struck out five. Murphy Smith suffered the loss, over six innings he allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits.
