Cales wins for the second time in three nights out of the Smokies bullpen. The loss went to Brave reliever, Jacob Thompson.

Both team got runs early in the game. The Smokies used a lead off triple in the 1st by Brandon Guyer, followed by a Starlin Castro single to make it 1-0 Tennessee.

Mississippi would tie the game in the bottom of the 1st on back to back doubles from Willie Cabrera and Eric Duncan. Both teams again struck in the 3rd inning. Tennessee started a two out rally when Castro singled and stole second. Ty Wright, who went 4 for 5 with and homer and three runs batted in, drove in Castro with a single to make the score 2-1.

The Braves evened up the score in the bottom of the 3rd when Willie Cabrera hit a home run over the left field wall, his first homer of the season. The game remained tied at two through the 5th. In the 6th, the Braves got their first lead of the season, as Luis Bolivar singled in Mauro Gomez to make it a 3-2 game.

The lead was short lived for Mississippi, as the Smokies used a walk and a two run home run from Ty Wright to regain the lead, this time at 4-3. The score remained the same until the top of the 9th when the Braves fell apart defensively.

With two outs and the bases empty, the Smokies used a double by Ty Wright to keep the inning alive. A Luis Bolivar throwing error allowed Blake Lalli to reach and it scored Ty Wright from second with the throw going into the Tennessee dugout. Steve Clevenger then delivered a double and another Luis Bolivar error helped score another run and after 8 and a half, the Smokies led 7-3. Mississippi got one runner on in the 9th but that was all and lost 7-3. The Braves are now 0-3, while the Smokies are 3-0 and have guaranteed themselves a series victory.

Game four of the series will be tomorrow at 2:05. Mississippi will send Erik Cordier to the mound, while Tennessee counters with Hung-Wen Chen. Both pitchers are right handers and will be making their first starts of the season.
