Tellez Drives in 69th Run in 8-2 Loss to Sea Dogs

Portland - Rowdy Tellez and Ryan Lavarnway drove in first inning runs with doubles, but Portland scored the next eight runs en route to an 8-2 win over the Fisher Cats on Tuesday at Hadlock Field in Maine.
Jalen Beeks (5-3) picked up the win, allowing two runs in five innings. Sea Dogs pitchers, including relievers Williams Jerez, Ty Buttrey and Luis Ysla did not allow New Hampshire a hit after the fourth inning.
New Hampshire (62-67) struck in the top of the first inning. Christian Lopes walked and scored on a double by team RBI leader Tellez. Lavarnway followed with a double to give the Fisher Cats a 2-0 lead.
Portland (50-76) made it 2-1 in the bottom of the first inning. Yoan Moncada walked, moved to second on a wild pitch, and scored on a double by Nate Freiman.
The Sea Dogs took the lead in the bottom of the second inning. Cole Sturgeon and Tzu-Wei Lin singled and Moncada homered to make it 4-2. Portland added three more in the third inning with the big hit a two-run single by Jake Romanski off starter and losing pitcher Jeremy Gabryszwski (7-11).
Romanski doubled to start the Sea Dogs fifth inning, scoring on a single by Lin to give Portland an 8-2 lead.
Jeremy Gabryszwski (7-11) took the loss for the Fisher Cats. Alonzo Gonzalez, Wil Browning and Colton Turner combined to hold Portland to one run over the final 4.2 innings.
The Fisher Cats and Sea Dogs meet one more time at Hadlock Field on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. Coverage with Tyler Murray begins at 5:45 p.m. on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network. LHP Shane Dawson (9-4, 3.86) starts for New Hampshire against Portland RHP Kevin McAvoy (8-7, 5.64).
The final homestand of the season opens on Monday, August 29 against Trenton at 6:35 p.m. It will be Firefighter Appreciation Night. For tickets and information, visit www.nhfishercats.com . The homestand also includes games with the Sea Dogs and five Atlas Fireworks Shows. The season concludes on Labor Day against Portland with a 1:35 p.m. start time.
