Monsters Weekly Storylines

2016 Calder Cup Champion Alex Broadhurst, entering his third season with the Monsters, is now joined on the Cleveland roster by his older brother Terry Broadhurst, a sixth-year forward who's recently served stints in the top Swedish and Finnish professional leagues, who signed a 25-game professional tryout (PTO) contract with the Monsters earlier this morning. Natives of the Chicagoland area, the Broadhursts were teammates with the AHL's Rockford IceHogs during the 2013-14 season and pose an interesting opportunity for a personal profile. In the month of November, the Monsters will join countless other teams at every level of organized hockey in North America by growing moustaches to support the Movember Foundation and their efforts to raise funds and awareness in the fight against men's health and mental health issues. Numerous players and team personnel will be participating this year and fans will be encouraged to grow their own facial hair and join the team's Movember movement by donating to the cause. A novel and now traditional annual element on the hockey calendar, an exploration of the Monsters' Movember efforts would provide a fun and impactful feature opportunity.

The Cleveland Monsters are part of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Quicken Loans Arena organization and also owned by a group led by Cavaliers Majority Owner and Quicken Loans Founder and Chairman Dan Gilbert. The group also owns and operates the Cleveland Gladiators of the Arena Football League playing at Quicken Loans Arena and the Canton Charge of the NBA G League playing in nearby Canton, Ohio at the Canton Civic Center.
