Richmond Kickers News Release

RICHMOND, VA - The Richmond Kickers announced that Ryan Taylor will miss the remainder of the season with a torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament, Medial Collateral Ligament and Meniscus. The Kickers goalkeeper suffered the injury during the club's regular season match in Charlotte on Saturday, April 22. He will undergo surgery on his left knee next week.

"All involved with the club are saddened and disappointed for Ryan to sustain a season ending injury," commented Leigh Cowlishaw, Richmond Kickers Director of Soccer. "Ryan was in great form and will be a big loss to the team. We know he will dedicate himself to rehab and are confident that he will return to full health within 6-8 months. We wish Ryan a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him on the field again soon."

Taylor returned for his fourth season with the Kickers in 2016, starting the first four matches of the campaign and backstopping the club to two shutouts. In 17 appearances in 2015, he posted a career best five shutouts and a 9-5-3 goalkeeper record en route to a USL Eastern Conference Quarterfinals finish. He made his professional debut during the 2013 USL Regular Season Championship season and became a regular with the starting lineup in 2014, earning 12 appearances while allowing just 18 goals.

A graduate of Radford University, Taylor finished his collegiate career with the third-lowest goals against average in the Big South at 0.99 after playing every minute of every game his senior year, earning All-Academic Team, 2012 NSCAA All-South Regional Second Team and Big South All-Conference Team honors.

The Midlothian, VA native played club soccer at FC Richmond and was selected First Team All-Dominion District, Second Team All-Central Region and All-Metro as a senior at Midlothian High School.
