Syracuse to Wear Special Superhero Jerseys in Honor of First Responders

February 6, 2018 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) - Syracuse Silver Knights News Release

The biggest trend in Hollywood for the last few years have been epic superhero movies. Marvel and DC are releasing "Black Panther," "Avengers: Infinity War," and "Aquaman" this year. Often people look up to these superheroes as people of great power and responsibility. They serve as role models who use their abilities to protect the public.

However, we don't often take the necessary time to thank and honor the real superheroes of our communities. Police officers, firefighters, and EMTs work tirelessly every day to save lives and to ensure the safety of the public. The Syracuse Silver Knights recognize the efforts of these real superheroes - the men and women of our first responders who protect the people of our neighborhoods.

On Sunday, February 11th, the Syracuse Silver Knights will wear special superhero spider-inspired jerseys in their match against the Harrisburg Heat. The Silver Knights will honor our local police officers, firefighters and EMTs in a ceremony before the game. The first responders will also take part in a scrimmage on the field of the Oncenter War Memorial Arena.

At the conclusion of the match, the Silver Knights will auction off the special jerseys that the players have worn during the game. A portion of the proceeds go to benefit Law Enforcement United, which honors the memory of fallen officers and provides support for their surviving families.
