Switchbacks FC Play San Antonio to 1-1 Draw in Texas

San Antonio, TX - The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC

Once again, the Switchbacks got off to a strong start. Taeseong Kim was able to play a diving header into Aaron King who was able to slot it past the keeper to his left to give the Switchbacks a 1-0 lead in 12th minute. King's goal was the first conceded by San Antonio so far this season. Masta Kacher had a couple of opportunities with help from a strong midfield presence, but Aaron King's 12th-minute goal would be the only from the Switchbacks in the first half. San Antonio was able to get a handful of possessions in the Switchbacks' defensive third, but the backline and Dan Jackson held strong to keep San Antonio scoreless at the break.

San Antonio would start off the second half strong, controlling the ball in the attacking third. Despite San Antonio's efforts, the Switchbacks were able to hold strong. The Switchbacks would have their fair chances as well, but neither side was able to capitalize on their opportunities. San Antonio would find their equalizer in the 79th minute as Kris Tyrpak found the top right corner to beat Dan Jackson. The Switchbacks nearly found the winner in stoppage time but the shot bounced off the post and back out into the midfield. The Switchbacks would finish the match 1-1.

"It's a great effort from the guys with a tough point on the road," said Head Coach Steve Trittschuh. "I really like how we played defensively and each game is getting better. The quality will continue to improve."

The Switchbacks will now travel to Edinburg to take on Rio Grande Valley on Wednesday before returning home next Saturday to take on the Real Monarchs at Weidner Field at 6:00 PM. Tickets are available here.
