Swift Current, SK - Tyler Steenbergen scored at 3:53 of overtime lifting the Swift Current Broncos to a 3-2 win over the Calgary Hitmen on Friday night at Credit Union i-PLex.
The Hitmen forced the extra frame when Carsen Twarynski scored the tying goal with 26.2 seconds remaining in regulation. For Twarynski, it was his team-leading sixth marker of the season. Matteo Gennaro and Jordy Stallard both chipped in a pair of assists helping Calgary collect points in three straight games going 2-0-1 in that span.
Aleksi Heponiemi and Max Lajoie also scored for the Broncos who improve to 10-5-2-1.
Calgary outshot Swift Current 27-25 with Cody Porter making 22 saves for the Hitmen while Travis Child recorded 25 stops for the Broncos.
Calgary, 5-5-2-0, returns home to host the Broncos in the rematch tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 5, in a 7:00 p.m. start at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
