SwampDogs Thump Grizzlies

June 27, 2016 - Coastal Plain League (Coastal Plain)
Fayetteville SwampDogs News Release

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.--Dan Leckie homered in the bottom of the first and Tyler Tharp blasted a three-run shot in the eighth as the Fayetteville SwampDogs beat the Gastonia Grizzlies 10-3 on Monday at The Swamp.

Both home runs were parts of four run innings as the SwampDogs jumped out early and pulled away late in front of the home crowd. Fayetteville added one run innings in the second and fourth to knock out Grizzly Starter Chris Hunt.

Kaesen Wilson (North Carolina A&T) came in for the SwampDogs in the third inning and escaped a bases loaded jam to preserve a two run lead at the time. Wilson wiggled out of multiple jams in four and third innings of relief to earn his second win of the year. Peter Moore (Lehigh) threw two scoreless innings, including striking out the side in the ninth, to earn his first save.

The SwampDogs improve to 9-14 with the win and will host the Catawba Valley Stars Tuesday night for Faith and Family Night at The Swamp.
