Hagerstown Suns News Release

BOWLING GREEN, KY - Brad Peacock pitched six shutout innings and Derek Norris hit his league-leading 22nd home run of the season to lead the Hagerstown Suns past the Bowling Green Hot Rods 8-0 on Friday.

The Suns offense got going very quickly on Friday, picking up a run on an RBI double by Norris in the first inning and another in the top of the third on Norris' solo shot to left field.

Hagerstown tacked on another run in the fourth and two more in the fifth inning to drive the Bowling Green starting pitcher, Nick Barnese, from the game.

In the top of the sixth, the Suns scored the final three runs of the game, two of them on a double to center field by Valerio Heredia, taking an 8-0 lead.

Peacock was excellent for Hagerstown, allowing just four hits and no runs in his six innings of work. The righthander earned the win for the Suns, and Justin Phillabaum and Chris Rivera closed the door over the final three innings.

The Suns pithing staff closed out the game retiring the final 15 batters they faced.

The Suns and Hot Rods will finish their four game series on Saturday at 7:05 in Bowling Green, 8:05 pm on the East Coast.

The Hagerstown Suns play at Municipal Stadium in Hagerstown, MD and are a Class "A" affiliate of the Washington Nationals.
