Suns Avoid Sweept, Comback to Win 8-6

Salisbury, Md.- Hagerstown scored six unanswered runs to comeback and defeat the Delmarva Shorebirds 8-6 at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. The Suns scored two unearned runs in the eighth, taking the lead on a Billy Rowell error off the bat of Michael Martinez with two outs for a 7-6 lead. Francisco Guzman followed with an RBI single to right to extend the lead to two.
After the Shorebirds took a 6-2 lead after the four innings, Hagerstown tied the game off of Delmarva starter Kyle Schmidt. The Suns strung together three consecutive singles, the last coming off the bat of Michael Martinez to cut the deficit to three. Two batters later, Trevor Lawhorn smacked a three-run homerun to left to tie the game at six. Lawhorn and Martinez both went 3-for-5 with Lawhorn driving in three and Martinez scored three runs.
Chris Vinyard led the Shorebirds offense with a 3-for-4 night, including a double and a solo homerun. Paul Winterling was 2-for-2 with an RBI for Delmarva.
The Shorebirds go on the road to start a four-game series in Lake County while the Suns continue their road trip in Lakewood.
