Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Miami Marlins announced a pair of transactions that impacts their Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Suns roster prior to tonight's game against the Huntsville Stars at Joe W. Davis Stadium.

Right-handed relief pitcher Rett Varner has been transferred from Jacksonville to Triple-A New Orleans. Varner made one appearance for the Suns, pitching a scoreless two-thirds of an inning on Friday against the Jackson Generals as he earned the victory. He is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in one game pitched for Jacksonville.

In a corresponding move, right-handed relief pitcher Michael Ojala has been transferred from High-A Jupiter to Jacksonville. Ojala made one appearance for the Hammerheads, working a scoreless two innings where he struck out four batters last Friday. He has no record and hasn't given up any earned runs.

Ojala pitched in 12 games for the Suns in 2012, going 0-1 with a 4.08 ERA in 17 and two-thirds innings on the mound.

The Suns roster now stands at 25, and a revised roster is attached.

The Suns begin their ten-game road trip tonight with the first game of a five-game series against the Huntsville Stars at Joe W. Davis Stadium. Left-hander Brian Flynn (1-0, 0.00 ERA) will pitch for Jacksonville against Huntsville right-hander Jimmy Nelson (1-0, 3.60 ERA).

The contest begins at 7:43 p.m. ET, and fans can listen to the game on the Suns Baseball Network on WSOS-FM 94.1 and www.jaxsuns.com with coverage beginning with the UF & Shands Pregame Show at 7:25 p.m. ET.
