Arizona Sundogs News Release

INDEPENDENCE, MO - Tyler Butler opened the scoring with his 99th career goal, and Nathan O'Nabigon's second period tally held up as the game-winner in a 3-1 win for the Arizona Sundogs over the Missouri Mavericks on Friday night at the Independence Events Center.

Daymen Rycroft added an empty-net goal with 17 seconds to play to solidify the Sundogs (16-25-7) win.

The win was Arizona's third in their last four games and all three victories have been backstopped by Mike Spillane, who stopped 28 shots in net. Missouri's Charlie Effinger took the loss despite a 38-save night.

Butler's goal opened up the scoring 6:50 into the game on a wrist shot from the point for his ninth of the season. Ed McGrane tied the game on the power play for the Mavericks (27-16-4) late in the frame.

Kyle Hood's centering pass from the right-wing boards setup O'Nabigon's tally for his third of the season as he was positioned alone at the goal crease for the easy tap-in. Rycroft also assisted on the goal with 3:20 left in period two.

Butler and Hood maintained their hot play, each scoring their 13th points in the last naine games. Craig Macdonald's three-game goal streak came to an end.

The Sundogs continue their three-game weekend on Saturday when they visit the Quad City Mallards in Moline, IL.
