The Sea Dogs carried play early in the game, but were not rewarded for their hard work.

Chicoutimi got the opening goal with under eight minutes left in the first period, as the teams skated 4-on-4.

Following a faceoff win in the left circle, the puck came back to Galipeau, who sent a slap shot from the point that deflected off a Saint John defender and past the left leg of goalie Alex D'Orio.

Rubtsov doubled the lead with three minutes left in the period when he took a drop pass in the right circle and whistled a wrist shot beyond D'Orio's glove.

Saint John responded four-and-a-half minutes into the second period.

Matt Green wristed a low shot from the right wing boards that was stopped by Sags' goalie Alexis Shank, but the rebound lay right in front of the net. Reginato spun off his check and tapped it inside the right post to cut the Sea Dogs' deficit in half.

Webster tied the score 62 seconds later.

Captain Joe Veleno feathered a pass to the right point where Webster unloaded a heavy wrist shot that beat Shank on the glove side.

The game remained deadlocked until fewer than six minutes remained in the third period when Diotte took at pass at the right point and crushed a slap shot past D'Orio's glove.

Reginato struck again on a power play with just over two minutes to play.

Ostap Safin took a pass at the left point, and then found Reginato streaking into the right circle. The overage winger snapped a one-timer inside the left post to make it a 3-3 game.

Overtime would not produce a winner. D'Orio and Shank stood strong in the 3-on-3 extra period.

Houde's goal came in the fourth round of the shootout, a quick wrister from the low slot that went under D'Orio's glove, off the right post and in.

Shank earned the win with 35 saves and four more in the shootout. D'Orio took third star with the loss, totaling 31 stops and three of four in the penalty shot contest.

Reginato's two goals made him first star while Galipeau's two points led to a second-star selection in front of 4,015 fans in attendance.

The Sea Dogs' next game is Sunday, October 22nd, at 2 p.m. against the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles at Harbour Station. Tickets are available at the Harbour Station Box Office and online .
