Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (March 4)- If Texas was looking to send a message in the South in the final month in the regular season, they sent the wrong one as they fell 5-2 on the road against the Corpus Christi IceRays.

The Rays took a 1-0 lead in the first with a goal from Adam Powell at the 13:58 mark. It was Corpus attacking once again in the middle frame, this time an early goal from Kurtis Dulle beating Brett Jaeger for his fifth of the season. Texas was looking to comeback when Corpus' Justin Quenneville was called for hooking and the powerplay unit went to work. Within one minute on the job the Brahmas found themselves on the board with a goal off the stick of Kevin Seibel. The teams headed into the second intermission with a 3-1 game following a goal by Rays leading scorer Chad Woollard.

Midway in the third Matt Pierce put the Brahmas back within one goal with assists from James Hiebert and Matt Burto, but that was as close as the game would come as the Rays scored two more unanswered goals, including an empty netter. Texas goaltender Brett Jaeger stopped 29 shots in goal and the Brahmas penalty kill was a perfect 5-for-5.

The Brahmas return home to the NYTEX Sports Centre tomorrow night to face the Laredo Bucks for a 7:05 PM faceoff. The first 1000 fans in attendance will receive a free Brahmas cap courtesy of NYTEX Sports. On Saturday Texas hits the ice for their third game in as many nights to take on the Rapid City Rush at 7:05 PM. For ticket information please contact the Brahmas Box Office at (817) 336-4423 or visit www.brahmas.com.

* Texas defenseman Justin Kinnunen returned to the lineup Thursday night following a call up with the San Antonio Rampage (AHL).
