StTri-City Raises Championship Banner and Rallies to 4-2 Win

Kearney, Neb. - Paul Washe scored twice on assists from Alex Limoges, helping the Tri-City Storm to a 4-2 victory over the Sioux City Musketeers on Championship Night. The Storm raised its 2016 Clark Cup Championship banner prior to the game in a special 30-minute ceremony.
The Storm returning forward Washe, 17, scored the game-winning goal a little more than a minute into the third to move the team ahead by one. Tri-City trailed by a pair of goals twice and overcame the deficits with tallies by Washe, Wyatt Bongiovanni and Linus Weissbach.
For the second straight season under Head Coach Bill Muckalt., the Storm (2-0-0-1, 5 points) has points in three straight games to open the season. Last season, Tri-City started 3-0-0-0.
The Storm has the best record in the USHL through the first week of the season.
During the special pregame ceremony, Storm Owner Mr. Kirk Brooks spoke in-depth to the crowd about how proud he was to help bring a championship to the Tri-Cities. Nine returning Storm players skated the banner to the east end of the ice and helped clipped it to cables before it was lifted to the rafters.
The Storm's four-game home stand continues tomorrow against Lincoln at 7:05 p.m., featuring a magnet schedule and lottery ticket giveaway from the Nebraska Lottery. BOX SCORE
The Storm scored twice in the third to put away Sioux City. Washe trickled the puck through the legs of Ferland at 1:37 of the final frame. The shot was attempted just in front of the attacking blue line. Limoges and Bryan Yoon earned helpers.
The teams each had nine shots in the third. Dayton Rasmussen made all nine stops and 25 in the game for his second win. Ryan Ferland had 23 stops in defeat. Weissbach iced the game with an empty-net tally at 19:16 of the third.
The Storm yielded the first goal at 5:20 of the first but struck back less than three minutes later. Charlie Kelleher passed to Alex Limoges and the forward dashed inside the blue line. Limoges spun away from a check and lifted a backhanded saucer feed to Washe. The returning center slapped the puck and beat Ferland to the right post for Tri-City's first goal at 8:07.
Tri-City responded in similar fashion in the second, tallying with six seconds left to tie the game at two. Wyatt Bongiovanni shoveled a centering pass from Ben Taylor in for his first of the season. The secondary helper went to Josiah Slavin, his second assist this season.
On Saturday, October 1, Tri-City hosts Lincoln for Nebraska Lottery Night at 7:05 p.m. The Storm gives away magnet schedules and lottery tickets throughout the night! Listen to the game on Classic Hits 98.9 FM. The Storm hosts Green Bay on Thursday, October 6 and Friday, October 7. On Thursday, Tri-City gives away season tickets to four lucky fans! Friday is Hocktoberfest, with $1 beers, presented by Bud Light.
