Charleston, SC. - Colorado collected goals from forwards Matt Garbowsky and Ryan Harrison, but fell short in a 5-2 loss at South Carolina on Sunday. Despite the loss, the Eagles grabbed four of a possible six points in the three-game set against the Stingrays.

For the third straight game the Stingrays would jump on top in the first period when forward John Parker scored from the side of the net at the 5:34 mark to make it 1-0 South Carolina.

The Eagles would find an answer late in the opening frame when Harrison streaked down the ice on a shorthanded breakaway, beating Stingrays goalie Parker Milner to tie the game at 1-1 with just 1:59 left in the period.

With the score knotted at 1-1 heading into the second period, Colorado would claim their first lead of the afternoon when Garbowsky blasted in a shot on a 3-on-2 rush at the 11:05 mark to give the Eagles the 2-1 advantage.

Late in the second period, South Carolina would earn a power play and forward Kelly Zajac would capitalize with a wrister from the left circle to tie the game at 2-2 with only 12 seconds left in the period.

South Carolina would blow things open in the third period, scoring three straight in the final stanza. The onslaught started when forward Rob Flick finished a chance in the low slot by beating Eagles goaltender Nathan Lieuwen to give the Stingrays the 3-2 edge just 3:10 into the final stanza.

Only 3:03 later, forward Scott Tanski would light the lamp with a wrist shot from the slot on the rush to extend the South Carolina lead to 4-2. That advantage would grow to 5-2 when forward Adam Gacek buried a shot on the power play on top of the crease at the 12:39 mark of the third period.

Colorado would be outshot in the contest 31-14, as the Eagles lost by a final score of 5-2.

The Eagles conclude their five-game road trip when they take on the Rapid City Rush on Wednesday, November 23rd at 7:05pm MT.
