Storm Shutout by Stars in Final Game of Regular Season

Kearney, NE. - The Tri-City Storm were shutout by the Lincoln Stars in the final game of the regular season on Sunday afternoon by a final score of 5-0. Tri-City will travel to Fargo for a Tuesday night playoff matchup against the Fargo Force. The Storm and the Force will play a best of three series in consecutive days at Scheels arena in Fargo, ND beginning on Tuesday night.
Tristan Ashbrook scored his 17th goal of the season for the Lincoln Stars at the 13:03 mark of the 1st period to give the Stars a 1-0 lead in the game. The first period ended with Tri-City outshooting Lincoln 9-8 but trailing by one goal.
Lincoln put together a three goal 2nd period to increase the lead to 4-0. Austin scored his 5th of the season 5:24 into the 2nd period to give the Stars a 2-0 lead. Logan Jenuwine added a power play goal at 11:29 and Phillipe Lapointe scored a shorthanded goal to give Lincoln a four goal lead entering the final period. Tri-City outshot Lincoln 22-8 in the 2nd period but trailed 4-0 after forty minutes.
The lone goal in the 3rd period was scored by Austin Magera. It was his 2nd goal of the game and 6th goal of the season and was the final goal in a 5-0 Lincoln win over Tri-City. The Storm outshot the Stars 37-21 but were unable to find a goal and finished the game 0/7 on the power play.
In the loss, Tri-City defenseman Bryan Yoon became the first defenseman in team history to lead in the team in points during the regular season. Yoon finished the season with 3 goals and 32 assists for a 35 point total. Bryan Yoon, Joey Cipollone, Tyler Ward, and Johnny McDermott skated in all 60 regular season games for the Storm this season.
Tri-City returns to the Clark Cup Playoffs this week with a road series against the Fargo Force. Tri-City will play Fargo Tuesday and Wednesday night at 7:05pm in a best two of three series. If necessary, the final game of the opening round playoff series will be played Thursday night at 7:05pm. If Tri-City advances past the first round, the remaining playoff rounds become a best of five series and would give the Storm the opportunity to host a home playoff game at the Viaero Center.
The Storm return to action Tuesday night in a playoff matchup against the Fargo Force. The broadcast will begin at 6:45pm on HockeyTV and the Breeze 94.5FM. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05pm.
