Storm Rolls Past Danger

Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Storm won their seventh game of the season against the Nebraska Danger with a 62-44 victory. The two teams traded shots throughout the game but the Storm would ultimately prevail.

Lorenzo Brown got the action started for the Storm with an eight-yard quarterback keeper, giving the Storm an early lead at 7-0. Nebraska quickly tied the game up 7-7 when Lyle McCombs caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from Jameel Sewell. Lorenzo Brown answered back with his second rushing touchdown of the game, helping the Storm re-take lead at 14-7. It became a kicker's game when Brendan Hanaphy of the Danger scored a 45-yard field goal bringing the score to 14-10. Justin Syrovatka answered with a 23-yard field goal to put the Storm on top at 17-10, bringing the end of first quarter.

Starting the second quarter, the Storm would strike first with a 25-yard touchdown pass by Lorenzo Brown to Caleb Holley increasing the Storm's lead to 24-10. The Danger would score on their next drive after O.J. Simpson and Jameel Sewell would connect, making it a 24-17 ball game. After a six-play drive, Brown and Holley connect after a two-yard pass for the touchdown increasing the lead to 31-17. Brendan Hanaphy of the Danger kicked a 38-yard field goal closing the lead to 31-20. Korey Williams fired back with a 52-yard kickoff return increasing the Storm's lead to 38-20. Brendan Hanaphy was last to score in the half when he kicked in a 27-yard field goal with 28 seconds left on the clock.

The Storm was the first to score in the second half when Lorenzo Brown and Brandon Johnson-Farrell connected for a 44-yard touchdown bringing the lead to 45-23. After a 19-yard pass from Jameel Sewell, O.J. Simpson went in for the touchdown yet again closing the lead to 45-30. Brandon Johnson-Farrell juked and jived on the kickoff getting to the Nebraska five-yard line, but couldn't quite get into the end zone but Justin Syrovatka's field goal would complete the drive, putting the Storm on to again with a score of 48-30. With 56 seconds left in the third quarter, Jameel Sewell ran in a 14-yard touchdown, ending the third quarter with a score of 48-37.

The Storm started fourth quarter strong with back to back touchdowns when Lorenzo Brown and Caleb Holley once again connected with a six-yard touchdown pass. Then, Brown hitting a wide-open Mike Tatum with a 48-yard touchdown pass, extending the Storm lead to 62-37. Lyle McCombs of the Danger would score on a four-yard rush, bringing the final score to 62-44.

Brown finished the game with 219 yards, five touchdowns, two interceptions, 29 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. Caleb Holley ended with 47 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Mike Tatum accumulated 86 yards and one touchdown. Brandon Johnson-Farrell tallied 70 yards and one touchdown. Justin Syrovatka went for a perfect two for two on field goals.

The Storm improves to 7-1 on the season while the Nebraska Danger falls to 5-4. The Storm returns to action Saturday, April 30th when the Storm will host the Green Bay Blizzard. Kickoff is set for 7:05 p.m.
