Storm Offense Overpowers Buccaneers

Kearney, NE. - The Tri-City Storm improved on the best home record in the USHL on Friday night, blanking the Des Moines Buccaneers 4-0. Tri-City got goals from Blais Richartz, Ronnie Attard, Johnny McDermott, and Wyllum Deveaux. Storm goalie Filip Larsson stopped all 12 Des Moines shots, and recorded his second consecutive shutout.

After scoring only one goal last weekend's series vs. Waterloo, the Tri-City offense broke out for four even strength tally's in tonight's shutout win vs. Des Moines. Blais Richartz scored his first goal of the year at 9:56 of the 1st period to give the Storm a 1-0 lead. Richartz's goal was assisted by Chase McLane and Bryan Yoon. The second Storm goal of the evening would come less than two minutes later when Ronnie Attard blasted one by Buccaneer netminder Jake Kucharski at 11:44 of the opening period. The Attard goal was assisted by Adam Goodsir, and Jack Summers. The Storm outshot the Buccaneers by an 11-0 margin in the 1st period, and had a two goal advantage entering the middle frame.

The Storm offense would once again light the lamp halfway through the 2nd period when Johnny McDermott scored his second goal of the season at the 9:38 mark of the period. The goal was assisted by Hugo Blixt and would be the final goal allowed by Jake Kucharski as he was pulled following the Storm tally. Ryan Snowden entered the game for the Bucs and stopped 15 of 16 shots faced.

Wyllum Deveaux would provide the final goal of the night for the Storm at the 2:05 mark of the 3rd period. His goal was assisted by Filip Forsmark and Hugo Blixt.

Filip Larsson recorded his third shutout of the season, and second in the last six days. He now improves to 9-2 on the season and has a 1.29 Goals Against Average (GAA).

Tri-City improved to 10-2 on the season and have now recorded the most wins (10) of any team in the USHL this season. The Storm are in a tie with Fargo for 1st place in the USHL standings.

Tri-City and Des Moines hit the again ice tomorrow night at Buccaneer Arena in Urbandale, IA.
