Storm Halts The Blizzard

Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Storm won their eleventh game against the Green Bay Blizzard on Saturday, May 21st in a 58-24 battle.

The Blizzard would be the first to score after Colby Goodwyn ran in a two-yard touchdown, to give the Blizzard an early 7-0 lead. Storm wide receiver Mike Tatum answered back with a quick one-yard run into the end zone to tie the game 7-7. After an interception by Matt Hermanson in the Blizzard end zone, the Storm would score again when Lorenzo Brown ran in a nine-yard touchdown, putting the Strom in the lead, 14-7. Zeke Arevalo of the Blizzard would then kick in a 26-yard field goal, to bring the score to 14-10. The Storm answered with back-to-back touchdowns when Mike Tatum and Lorenzo Brown connected for a 22-yard pass, and Caleb Holley for a three-yard catch, ending the quarter 28-10.

Storm's momentum was rapid at the start of the second quarter when Korey Williams ran in a 30-yard touchdown, and a ten-yard rushing touchdown from Lorenzo Brown to increase the Storm lead to 41-10. Matt Behrendt would hit his target, Markeith Summers, after a 12-yard pass, making it a 41-16 ball game. Justin Syrovatka finished up the half with a 40-yard field goal, bringing the score to 44-16.

After an exciting, yet scoreless third quarter, Green Bay was the first to put points on the board in the fourth when Matt Behrendt and Merkeith Summers connected for a 12-yard touchdown to bring the score to 44-24. Sioux Falls fired back when Korey Williams ran in a seven-yard touchdown, and Lorenzo Brown hit a wide-open Mike Tatum with a 45-yard pass to end the game with a score of 58-24.

Lorenzo Brown finished with 163 yards, three touchdowns, two interceptions, along with 92 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Korey Williams ended the game with 44 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Wide receiver, Mike Tatum, finished with one rushing touchdown, 92 receiving yards, and two touchdowns. The Storm defense tailed 45 tackles, three sacks, two interceptions, seven pass break-ups and two blocks.

The Storm moves to 11-1 on the season while the Blizzard fall to 3-9. The Storm will be back in action on Friday, May 27th at 7:05 pm (CT) when they clash with the Barnstormers (4-7) in Des Moines, Iowa.
