Storm Drop Game to Stampede 4-3

Kearney, NE. - The Tri-City Storm dropped a game to the Sioux Falls Stampede by a final of 4-3 Saturday night at the Viaero Center. After a back and forth game, Sioux Falls scored the game winning goal with 39 seconds left to secure the win. The Storm remain in 5th place in the Western Conference standings with 61 points following the loss. Tri-City returns to action tomorrow in a road matchup with the Omaha Lancers. Puck drop is scheduled for 5:05pm.

The Stampede jumped on the board early in the first period as Kirill Panyukov netted his 14th goal of the season. The goal from Panyukov was scored on the power play at 3:13 of the 1st period to give Sioux Falls a 1-0 lead. Tri-City answered back with an even strength goal from Tyler Ward at 15:19 of the period. Ward's 10th goal of the season tied the game at 1-1 and was assisted by Johnny McDermott. The first period ended in a 1-1 tie with the Storm outshooting the Stampede 17-9.

Tri-City netted the only goal of the 2nd period and carried a one goal lead into the 3rd period. Filip Forsmark scored his 8th goal of the season on the power play to give Tri-City a 2-1 lead. The goal came at the 9:34 mark of the period and was assisted by Blais Richartz. Tri-City outshot Sioux Falls 18-6 in the 2nd period.

The 3rd period was filled with goal scoring as each team battled for the win. Reid Stefanson tied the game up at 2-2 with a goal at the 10:46 mark of the 3rd period. The Stampede added another goal minutes later from Collin Swoyer to take the lead with less than 7 minutes to go. Collin Swoyer scored his 5th goal of the season at the 13:24 mark of the 3rd period to give Sioux Falls a 3-2 lead. Tri-City's Filip Forsmark scored his 2nd power play goal of the evening and his 9th goal of the season at the 16:43 mark of the 3rd period to tie the game at 3-3. Mike Koster was awarded the lone assist on Forsmark's game tying goal. The Stampede scored the game's final goal with 39 seconds left to seal the victory. Collin Swoyer scored his 2nd goal of the 3rd period and 6th goal of the season to give Sioux Falls a 4-3 win. Tri-City outshot Sioux Falls 45-25 in the loss.

Tri-City goaltender Jake Barczewski recorded the loss in net after stopping 21 of 25 Stampede shots. Mikhail Berdin captured the win in goal for Sioux Falls after a 42 save performance. Tri-City and Sioux Falls will meet again next Saturday night in Sioux Falls, SD in the season series finale.

The Storm return to action tomorrow night in a road matchup with the Omaha Lancers. The broadcast will begin at 4:45pm on HockeyTV and the Breeze 94.5FM. Puck drop is scheduled for 5:05pm.
