Storm Chasers Squeeze Past the Sounds on Sunday

April 22, 2012 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1) - Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

PAPILLION, Neb. - In a game that could not contrast Saturday's epic 13 inning, four hour and two minute contest any more, the Omaha Storm Chasers defeated the Nashville Sounds, 2-1 in quick two hours and 19 minutes on Sunday afternoon. Nate Adcock pitched a marvelous eight inning, one run ballgame that highlighted the matinee at Werner Park. A Jarrod Dyson squeeze play in the bottom of the seventh scored the go-ahead run in the form of Terry Evans.

Adcock (3-1) muted the Sounds' (4-14) offense for his third victory of the season while reliever Brandon Sisk worked a perfect ninth inning to pick up his first save of 2012.

Nashville broke into the run column quickly when the second batter of the game, Brooks Conrad, homered to put the Sounds on top by a score of 1-0. The Storm Chasers (13-5) responded in the home half of the first with a run of their own that came on a sacrifice fly by Johnny Giavotella. The sac fly brought home Dyson who had tripled to lead off the bottom of the first.

From there, it was all about pitching and defense as both teams remained knotted at 1-1 until the bottom of the seventh. Evans singled and advanced to third when Ryan Eigsti followed him with a single of his own. Dyson then squared around and bunted on a squeeze that scored Evans and gave the Storm Chasers a 2-1 advantage that they would not relinquish.

Omaha and Nashville will play game three of their four-game series on Monday at 6:35 p.m. Monday's contest between the Chasers and the Sounds is a $1.00 dog night thanks to our good friends from Rotella's Italian Bakery!
